Film review #32 War Horse

War Horse Film Review
After some contemplating, I decided to rewatch war horse. I am a horse person and I have a horse myself so I decided I was in need of a horse film. First, I was thinking Felicity but then decided on a film I love a lot called war horse.
War horse is a movie that gave me chills. The movie has comedy, horror, love, and hope. When I watched this film, it personally made me think of my own horse, and how if she’d be taken away from me, I would think somehow she’d find her way back home even if it were during a war. This horse in the movie is raised and taken from it’s mother and then sold. This older man somehow gets the horse and his wife tells him they need a work horse, and this horse is too weak for work. Their son decides he can make the horse work the fields, and that he is strong enough. The boy, around sixteen gets the horse to work after the mother fears she may loose her farm. War is what everyone in the country is faced wit, so the father has no choice but to sale the horse. The son has no choice but to let him go. They use his horse as a war horse, and his rider is killed in action, and then taken to the other side-Russia. It shows the story of how the horse gets back to his owner after going all around the world.

Final Film

The title of my film will be - In Consensus I Mistrust
Consensus means general agreement and I am going to base my film off of a story about trust. The characters I'm using are a girl named Dallas and a guy named Atari. These two will go on an adventurer after planning to run away but realize that being on their own isn't as easy as they thought. They're young, in love, and prone to make mistakes. The choices they make the day after Atari's birthday will prove that.

Scene 1 will start off in a kitchen, and I found a picture that matched my vision of what I plan it to look like.

I plan for the film to only have six different scenes but but show a good vision of a beginning a middle and an end. My film will be 3 to 5 minutes long and resolve around love, hope, friendship, and the beauty in creating an agreement and coming to terms that some things in life, will not get better if you run away from them.

I picture Atari as her best friend who has good looks and a protective heart.

I picture Dallas with unique colored eyes and a sensitive look.

Film Review #31 Cellular

Decided to watch an old movie.

Cellular is a film about a lady and her family. The woman is kidnapped and taken to an attic, left there, only to find a few broken pieces of a phone. She does something smart and plays around with the broken pieces of the phone so she can get it to work and call for help. She is able to connect some wires and the phone automatically calls a number. She gets through to a young guy in his 20’s and realizes, he may be her life savor. The twenty something year old guy does everything in his power to protect this woman’s son and find a way to make sure that she gets back home safely. The woman fears for her life, and her child’s life. She thinks the kidnappers have the wrong family once they do approach her, but after her husband is brought to her, she realizes they have got the right family and that the husband was a witness to a cops crime. The families kidnappers were all cops, which is super crazy!
The movie has a great twist!!

Film Review #30 The Amazing Spiderman 2

This movie was amazing. It had a lot of CGI and I was wnjoying every second of it. A lot of the action shots were quick and made the film even more suspenseful. The dirty two shot at the end of the movie with the aunt and Peter was amazing. The story was great and enjoyed how the movie was on point with the comics. The movie was fantastic and I would recommend it to others. The acting was amazing as well.

Film Review #29 House at The End of the Street

House at the end of the Street
This film is about a young guy who “lost” his sister by an accident, but really she is being kept in “hiding” aka his basement where he keeps her locked up in a room. The only thing is, this girl is really not his sister. He lives in a huge house right next to this beautiful girl and her mom next door near the forest who just moved in.
At first the new movers didn’t know anyone lived at that house next to them but soon find out the guy lives their.
People warn them telling them to stay away and that the boy is harmless but with the mom working late nights and the curious daughter who one day needs a ride home in the rain, he may be her savior, but also her killer.
This movie has a great twist to it!

Fighting against Human Trafficking through art is a beautiful way to make a change and grasp the attention of artistic people. Not everyone pays attention tot he news and the newspaper, some people find out information through art and the words of intelligence.

SOME ARTWORK PIECES TO THE SIDE

Ever since fifth grade, human trafficking has been a big a part of what I would like to help abolish. Taking away any one's rights,

Film Review #28 Noah

Noah turned out to be such an amazing film visually. I had a blast watching the animals in Noah differentiate from animals in real life. The angels in the film that left heaven and hit earth end up turning into rock once they hit the ground. A lot of the shots and scenes were very bright and beautiful but I wish'd we were able to see more visual of what happened in the cities that Noah and his family were avoiding.

Film Review #27 DIVERGENT

This movie used some amazing mirror effects in the first twenty five minutes of the movie and I fell in love with the shots that gave off energy, lively hood and character. I think the Shaeline Woodley did an amazing job as playing the lead actress of Divergent. Whenever (Main Character) "Trice" would go in the dream as a "test" in the film I enjoyed how realistic it was, yet you could be tricked by what was realistic and what was not. Sometimes when it was a dream, the shot would be slightly going and have quick shots that your eyes would have to hang on to.

Film review #26 Of Monsters and Men - King and Lionheart

This music video has so much creativity I can barely handle. My favorite shot is when the "older sister" or "mom" character is being "torn" away from her "son" or "little brother". That shot pulls out and gives you a glimpse at the "culture" in the video. Another shot I liked was when the female character was in a deep hole under ground and this magical light creature helped her out. The video took a lot of time and I think they had a staging director on set when they were filming because the lighting for every scene was perfect.

Film Review #25 Bella and the Wolf

So, I looked back at old videos I watched and saw this one. This is a behind the scenes/visual effects process of the wolfs in twilight. Something inside of me was burning to know how they were able to make Bella touch the wolf and what not so watching this video gave me a lot of information. Shots in the video show Kristen Stewart's character as Bella and Taylor Lautner who plays Jacob in the woods. In the movie you see him as a wolf but in this short clip you see him as him, in a reflectant suit that they were able to track and change to a wolf that they created by measuring real wolfs/siberian huskies and dog models in order to get the right measures, traits, and reactions a wolf would have.

Film Review #24 Katy Perry's music video for Dark Horse

Can I just say, I've always loved Katy Perry's videos. They always tell a story, and reflect a site of being different, yourself, and free. The dark horse video's shots changed with the beat of the song which I always find really cool. The first scene/part of the video zooms in across an ocean towards Katy Perry and several others who are on an Egyptian ship. The lighting is creating a nice shadow against the water around the boat as it approaches. Later in the video when different men come towards Katy, offering her riches and different things she zaps them at the end, which melts their skin to a shiny dust and I would like to find out how they did that in the editing room.

Film Review #23 InkHeart

The movie inkheart is such a daring film in ways you wonder how the editors, animators, and anyone else working with the making of the film brought certain characters to life. The film had a great story and a unique twist to some of the characters that were read out of the books. Some of the characters had writing on their face as if they were only "half read" out. I found that to be really cool. Also, some of the characters had fire erupt from their hands and I found that unique.

In Class Assignment 3/11/14 FILM IDEA POST

Cohorts filmmaking project in-class assignment (3/11/14):

  • Due at 4:10pm
  • Post on your blog with short project statement (~5 sentences)
  • Lots of reference materials: drawings, found stuff, photos, videos (yours or other)
  • Make it good

For my film/music video for the song we heard today I plan to make a sci fi short film. Something that wraps around not being human, yet looking human. For some reason, I've always loved the beauty in being different. I plan to shoot half of my film at night and the other half during the day. The first character, named Bariya, is going to be running in the forest, looking around searching for something you may not be sure of. Her back ground is she was born in Yosemite, experimented on from a child until her teen age years and changed...forever. One could call her... an upgraded human. Built in with things you could never imagine. The second character, named Giffin, is going to be running after her, following her tracks until he tracks her down and discovers the truth as to whys she's been running. It's because she's not human and she's running from something BIG.

The videos below show the world I want the film to resolve around, yet futuristically.

2) http://youtu.be/9snP4HuRsr4
3) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETv3eNj46EM
4) http://youtu.be/RcMg_g-9y14

The woods in the picture and video below are what I seem to picture for the video

Because the song for the music video is different and exotic, I would hope for the character sot be as well.
Who I imagined to play Bariya  and Giffin

Film Review #22 Non Stop

Last week I went to see Non Stop with one of my best friends. Throughout the whole movie I stuck with watching the editing because the movie in general was so suspensel. &$@spoiler alert$&@ the scene where the maid character/Marshall and his parter are fighting in the bathroom has amazing editing where they get quick fast shots as they fight but you can still see what's going on. The lighting throughout the film brings out some of the suspense as well.

Film Review #21 ROBOCOP

After grabbing a popcorn, some candy, and drinks, me and my mom made our way into the movie theatre to watch the new film robocop! The film had such crazy and amazing visual effects that I couldn't even take my eyes off the screen. Some shots were scary, SPOILER ALERT- example is when the legs of the main character are taken away by the suit, along with his arms and all is left is his left hand, lungs, heart, and face. Everything else on his body is gone, which is frightening yet beautifully sad and realistically made that it makes you emotionally engaged in the story.

Film Review #20 You Me, and Dupree

Two nights ago, I went to half priced books and actually attacked the store haha, buying a whole bunch of dvd's. You, Me, and Dupree was one of them. This film had amazing shots, and brought out the characters features by using bright lighting for the day, using colors such as orange and blue, then darker colors for night, such as brown and black. I've learned that colors can make you feel certain emotions, moods, and ways. This film made me feel happy, sad, surprised, and benefited because it gave you a story of friendship and love through easy visual effects of story.

Film Review #19 The Legend of Hercules

Let me just say, Kellen Lutz acting was amazing. I've seen this movie twice and would advise it to a newly wed couple, or anyone who enjoys great war scenes. The film had great effects, especially with the bulky lion in the somewhat beginning of the film. The film editing was great as it moved in slow motion during certain areas of action and went back to the fast paste which added exhilaration to the moment. The woman playing Hercule's mother also did an amazing job at acting and I hope to see her do future films just as well.

Film Review #18 Narnia-Prince Caspian

This film gets right into special effects when Lucie and Edmund, characters from Narnia find themselves looking at a moving picture in a frame. The picture is of a boat and water that starts to flood the area within the room. Their cousin, as well a character from Narnia finds this absurd and magicianary. This film is a great film where you're able to see effects used on green dust and creatures that only appear in your worst nightmares.

Film Review #17 CGI VFX Spot 1080p HD: "Odyssey" by - Digital District

http://youtu.be/K_a4DTesVew
CGI VFX Spot 1080p HD: "Odyssey" by - Digital District

This commercial includes a leopard running through a glass window and into the world. At first you can't tell it's a watch commercial, until the very end. This video includes lots of shiny things, such as jewelry and  tress made of silver with glassy snakes moving through. In the video, you see a dragon, that shapes the great wall of China, and the leopard jumps on an elephant and then on an airplane that is from the early years 0f 1920. The video quality is very high and you can tell a lot of time and effort was put into this project.

Film review #16 The Originals -episode 1 season 1

The Originals is the story of a powerful hybrid-half vampire half werewolf named Klaus. In the episode, you see that Klaus is very strong and is living in New Orleans with his sister Rebecca and his brother Elijah. The show is very quick paced, meaning straight to the point. A great show for teens, and episodes include amazing visual shots and nice stage set ups. I really enjoyed watching the show, and hope to see it succeed.
